Well, it goes without saying that the 7 months we’ve spent in Bogotá have left us plump and content. There are so many restaurants in Bogota to choose from that we have never felt like we’re scraping the barrel for a place to eat. New food spots seem to pop up in the Colombian capital every week, so if anything there’s too much choice when it comes to places to eat in Bogota. Here are our favourites from brunch, lunch and dinner in Bogota, we hope you enjoy them too!

To be honest, at the top of your list of things to do in Bogotá should be ‘SIT AROUND AND EAT ALL THE THINGS’. Bogotá is becoming hipster for the sake of being hipster, not for the sake of draining the tourist dollar (we’re looking at you, Medellín).

Rappi delivery service app colombia

There are so so so many different styles of food to try from all the places to eat in Bogota, and if you’re here for a while or (more likely) if it’s raining, we highly recommend getting the Rappi app for £1 delivery of anything – or unlimited deliveries for £4 a month!!

If you’re travelling to Bogota soon, make sure you also check out our full guide to Bogota, Colombia before your visit, the where to stay in Bogota to decide where exactly in the city to stay, and our Bogota safety tips to stay out of harm’s way. Places to eat in Bogota for brunch

Click Clack Hotel

Available on a Saturday and Sunday by reservation only, Click Clack Hotel puts on an incredible brunch in Parque 93.

While expensive on Colombian terms, for the average European 95,000 COP (£24) for unlimited cooked-to-order crepes, eggs, cakes, Colombian dishes, fruit, sushi, meats, bread, coffee and cocktails in a seemingly unlimited time frame all accompanied by a live DJ is pretty damn cheap.

Dress up a little nicer for this one; you’re with the other half!

La Herencia

A fancy Colombian restaurant serving up traditional dishes with modern fusions. The space is beautiful and the service is friendly.

They are open for all meals of the day, but the breakfast and brunch are especially yum.

Al Agua Patos

Sweet or savoury french toasty goodness. Order your bread type, then your toppings. These are surprisingly filling, and the natural lemonade is great, too.

One of the greatest places to eat in Bogota for any meal, but the vibe at brunch just hits the spot.

Places to eat in Bogota for lunch

La Cósmica

Hipster fried chicken with a choice of different marinations (get the K-pop!), available in burger or popcorn format.

Colombians like to eat their chicken with honey or syrup, and La Cósmica’s herbed honey is amongst the best.

Where to find this Bogotá lunch place: Chapinero Centro (the one in 93 is no good!)

Sake Sushi

A tiny little sushi bar with friendly staff who make everything up fresh. They tend to lock the outer gate so you may have to knock to get in.

Get the Miami crunch!

Where to find this Bogotá lunch place: Chapinero, Calle 55 #9

Restaurante Ledbury

This Colombian menú del día (i.e. fixed menu) spot is super popular with the locals around La Porciúncula.

You’ll have your choice of a main meal, a soup, and drink for just a few £. The meats served at this place are mouth-watering.

Zarzamora

Another Colombian menu del día spot, this time for students rather than businesspeople.

Despite having 3 floors, Zarzarmora is always jam-packed at lunchtime, and for very good reason.

Where to find this Bogotá lunch place: Javeriana

La Puerta Falsa

Good, super-traditional Colombian food.

This is one of the top places to eat in Bogota that all the guide books recommend. For this reason, there is always a queue of tens of people out the door around meal times. There are actually plenty of other similar restaurants without queues down the same street, but hey, if Lonely Planet tells people to go, go they must.

El Zócalo Taquería

Taco bowls to die for in a teeny bar. Feels pretty healthy, too!

It’s one of the places to eat in Bogota popular with office workers on a lunch break.

Jimmy el Hambriento

The best stuffed arepas in the city. End of.

Insurgentes Tacos

Slightly swanky tacos and cocktail bar. Our friend partially owns this place but we promise we’re not that biased.

The pumpkin tacos are really tasty!

Where to find this Bogotá dinner restaurant: Bosque Calderon, or new one opened on Parque 93

La Totuma Corrida

Freshly made, cheap Japanese food on Bogotá’s most famous alleyway.

Locals consider it one of the best cost-effective sushi places to eat in Bogota, so there’s quite often a queue on weekends, but you shouldn’t have to wait too long to get a table on weekdays. There are spaces upstairs to sit on the floor traditional Japanese-style, but they’re understandably hard to come by!

Crepes & Waffles

When we tell Europeans or North Americans about Crepes & Waffles, their usual reaction is ‘Oh no, I’d rather have a proper meal’. STOP RIGHT THERE.

The crepes and waffles at Crepes & Waffles are not the star of the show as they are back home; here they’re merely vessels for stuffings of every food style under the sun. Chinese chicken, Indian curry, king prawn salad, Mexican burrito fillings. There are hundreds of combinations. Also, Panne Cook is a must-try – this is a hollowed out bread loaf filled with chicken curry.

Though we’ve put this in the list of places to eat in Bogota for dinner, they also serve breakfast and lunch.

Where to find this Bogotá dinner restaurant: Anywhere and everywhere. You’ll find them around Bogotá with about the same frequency as Starbucks in London

Gourmet Burger Bar

Does what it says on the tin.

Where to find this Bogotá dinner restaurant: Calle 45

Central de Hamburguesas

Also known as the Secret Burger Place, this most mysterious of all places to eat in Bogota is regularly dishing up burgers the size of small children, some of them with cheese injected inside the meat.

Central de Hamburguesas is more of an experience than a dinner; it’s literally in someone’s living room, with all their granny ornaments surrounding you as you eat a burger on their sofa, watching people play Mario Kart on the TV. Cash only, here.

Where to find this Bogotá dinner restaurant: There are no signs outside, so you’ll just have to hang around on Calle 49 #7 and wait for someone to show you the way 😉 Here’s a shitty phone photo to help/probably not help you:

La Suerte Pollo

Fairly new onto the Bogotá restaurant scene, La Suerte offers chinese box-cooked chicken with a selection of marinades such as chimichurri and beer.

The food is excellent and the decor is on-point.

Where to find this Bogotá dinner restaurant: Chapinero Central

El Chato

This is swanky, with excellent service and BEAUTIFUL food, though the price tags are higher than the rest of the places to eat in Bogota that we’ve listed above.

Its exclusive vibe makes it popular with VIPs in Bogotá. You may need to make a reservation to get a table during service times.
